UNM to offer Leveraging Your Program of Research and Scholarship to Impact Practice and Policy webinar

Dr. Lutz will describe strategies for developing a program of research and scholarship that has the potential to influence practice and policy. She will explore ways to leverage study results and outcomes into practice and policy through strategic involvement in professional organizations and academic and community partnerships. She will include exemplars from her current studies focusing transitional care needs of patients with chronic illness and their family caregivers as they are discharged home from the hospital. 

 

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe a systematic approach for developing a research and scholarship trajectory that has the potential to influence practice and policy.
  • Identify strategies for implementing study results and outcomes into practice and policy
  • Discuss opportunities for leveraging community partnerships and professional service into research and scholarship opportunities.

Barbara Lutz PhD, RN, CRRN, PHNA-BC, FAHA, FNAP, FAAN is the McNeill Distinguished Professor in Nursing in the UNC Wilmington School of Nursing, which she joined in 2013. As a certified as a rehabilitation nurse and an advanced public health nurse, her research focuses on developing transitional models of care to support patients with chronic illness and their caregivers to return to the community after a hospital stay.
